Markethill Swifts v Moira Youth Colts

24 Nov 2019 by Alex Rudd

A hard fought match saw the Colts team take three well deserved points yesterday morning (at 11 a side) as they beat Markethill Swifts with a depleted squad due to illness, (even the tef called in sick at the last minute) Thomas who was suffering with a high temperature and flu and Aidan still suffering from a week of sickness 🤢, were raised from their sick beds to see off a well drilled and hard to breakdown opponent.
With a positive scoreline going into the half time break the boys deserved to be further in front, the second half saw the boys controlling the game, but nerves were starting to set in as the match drew to a close, we managed to hold on for our first win of the season, with goals from Joseph and Jaeden (his first for the club and on his debut) helped seal the victory.

Special mention to Aidan and Thomas (raised from his sick bed at the last minute) for fighting through illness to play, Luke Wilson (outstanding again), Harry Pesun (our homegrown Messi), Ryan Davis (solid as usual) and Jack McCann (the Magherlin Marcelo)

Man of the Match: Matthew Kennedy – back to his familiar role as goalkeeper, was solid and made some game changing saves.

Great win boys and the first of many.
